Working Out Like A Supermodel

Today, I had a chance to work out like a supermodel and do the Cindy Crawford – Shape Your Body Workout and relive a workout from the glory days of my youth.

Oh honey, I’m no longer young. At least I didn’t feel young after working out with Cindy Crawford for 45 minutes.

I could do most of the workout (had to modify a couple of things because of my back) but I noticed a few things.

I can’t kick as high as I did at 20.

I’m not as flexible as I was at 20.

I’m not able to get out of the floor as easily as I could at 20.

My first thought was WHY did I buy a workout DVD that reminds me that I’m no longer 20 years old and far from 140 pounds?????

My second thought was this:

Keep doing this workout. Get better at it. Do it better than when you were 20.

I’m already FAR stronger than I was at 20. I will lose more weight and my flexibility will come back with more exercise.

I’m on it.

I may never look like Cindy Crawford but I won’t rest until I can high-kick as well as she could….20 years ago.

In other news, I did use my new Omron HR-500u strapless heart rate monitor.  It did a great job tracking the changes in my heart rate.  Unfortunately, the calorie counter seems way off.  There is NO WAY I only burned 5 calories during that workout.  I emailed their customer service department to see if I set something up wrong.  Given my history with electronics, I’m pretty sure it’s user error.

P.S.  Working out like a supermodel doesn’t mean I will ever look like one and that is fine.  I’m cranky enough without living on lettuce leaves and cigarettes.

Besides……

  2. Ha. Love this post. I’m with you Barbara. :) A friend of mine told me it was unrealistic to hope to get back in to the shape I was when I was 20. Man, I hate being told what I can and can’t do, so I should thank her for motivating me. :) Because I think I CAN do it. I accept that I’m not going to look as good as I did at 20 (actually 30 was the “golden time” for me) but I can be in the same shape fitness wise. And you can too! Yay us! We will cheer each other on!

  5. I don’t even wanna think about how I worked out when I was 20. I went to a Nautilus and people wore shiny spandex leotards with butt floss….of course I never did but still…
