Retro Workouts

Back in the old days (the 1990′s), when the Earth was flat and so were my abs, I loved to workout.  I’m working to recapture that love.  It’s easier to love working out when you’re a size 6.  When you’re a size 16, there’s a lot more bouncing, and chafing, and creaky joints because you’re no longer 22 years old.

Still, I think back to the old exercise days with fond memories.  The other day, I thought about my favorite retro workouts from back in the day and two came to mind.  Two workouts that I did a million times, that were always fun/challenging. Most importantly, they were ones I LOOKED FORWARD TO DOING REGULARLY.  That my friends, is the key.

Big haired Cindy Crawford awesomeness!

They are the Cindy Crawford: Shape Your Body Workout and Cindy Crawford: The Next Challenge Workout.

Having long since given up my old battered VHS copies I’d forgotten about these gems. Thanks to Amazon, they are mine once more!

Now, I remember how Cindy’s first workout was panned because she does several moves with bad form. Anyone who has worked out for more than 15 minutes knows you shouldn’t swing your neck around like the possessed child in The Exorcist. She learned a lot from filming that one because The Next Challenge workout has tutorials to show you how to do the moves with proper form.

I’m looking forward to adding both of them to my workout routine once again. It will be interesting to see if they’re as good as I remember. In addition, I have no hope of ever looking like Cindy Crawford. That said, see her broad shoulders and larger than average supermodel thighs in the picture above? THAT is my body type. If these workouts are good enough for Cindy’s endomorphic frame, they are certainly good enough for mine!

Hmmmmm, I wonder if they still sell the old Jane Fonda workout from the 80′s????
