On Latte’s 6th birthday we gave her a goldfish bowl. The bowl was empty because we were moving in less than a week and I didn’t want to slosh across town with a fish. I know, that probably makes me a bad, inflexible mother. It was a busy week and I would have forgotten to feed it anyway. I was unwilling to be responsible for anything else that poops really thinking of the fish. The promise was that a fish would be in that bowl shortly after we moved.
Well, “shortly” turned into a month before I knew it. But now, that bowl is full.
Today, we have five new GloFish (purple, pink, yellow, blue, and orange). They are bright neon and seem to enjoy darting in and out of their neon cave. I put them on the kitchen table so we can watch them while we eat. Half Caff has already learned that she is not allowed to feed them her yogurt or stir them fast with a spoon to make a tornado in the bowl. You know….basic fish care instructions.
Latte thinks they are fun to watch and promises to help me clean the tank each week. She also wants to know when we can get a dog. I told her we could get one when she’s 30 10.

I have never seen these GloFish before and they’re positively beautiful. I’ve killed more fish than I care to think about so I’m sticking with my two furry, feline friends.

My boys had fish… for a while…
and then well… you know.
But we have two dogs now and that is PLENTY of poop, thank you.
