Weight loss isn’t a straight line. If you need to lose a lot of weight it isn’t a quick trip either. It takes time, commitment, and mostly a bunch of consistent lifestyle changes. I rarely eat sugar, grain, or dairy. I rarely drink anything except water and coffee. I do eat meat, good fats, vegetables, fruit, and I exercise. I eat that way 90% of the time. I have to in order to maintain my weight loss and lose more. I know that I feel my best when I eat a clean diet. I’ve accepted that it is the best thing for me most days…no matter how great junk food tastes. It’s what works for me and what I can maintain for the long haul. Still, I’ve been losing weight now for nearly two years. It didn’t happen quickly and at times (especially early on) I wasn’t consistent which of course slowed my progress.
I get a lot of searches on this blog from people looking for ways to lose weight quickly and/or easily. I am writing this post for them. It isn’t a quick process. It takes dedication and it takes patience. It’s also worth it. You’ll get there but it’s not going to happen overnight. It never does.

Gosh, you are so 100% right.
I got serious for about a year and a half and was walking and eating about like you say you are now.
After 3 months…started falling off. And I started getting confident.
These last holidays came around and I lost my walking/running routine. I nibbled on more than I should. The whole time saying, “What’s the big deal. I’ll get back on it in January.”
March is staring me in the face. I ain’t “back on it” yet.
Thanks for the reminder. It’s one thing to know it…but a whole different thing to hear it. =)

Maybe that’s my problem…..I have very little patience.

Just getting around to catching up on your blog. Thank you for posting this, I truly needed it
I am in the process of trying to lose 50 lbs this year, and it has been a slow process. I know I will get there but sometimes it is hard to keep going. Thanks for the encouragement!!! Keep up the good work and hope you feel better soon.
Thank you! Losing a ton of weight takes a lot of permanent change and patience. It’s so worth it but it take a lot more work than most people realize. Best wishes to you!
